Celebrating One Year of “Empathy Affect”

We’ve officially reached a significant milestone. Empathy Affect, our podcast from Fors Marsh Media that is dedicated to exploring the human side of government, has turned 1 year old! A year ago, we focused on a simple yet profound mission: to foster deeper understanding and connection between the public and the real people in government who serve us—their missions, the people they serve, and the true impact of their work.

Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of sharing incredible stories, insights, and conversations with leaders who are passionate about the transformative power of empathy in government. We’ve talked frankly about the personal journeys of public servants and explored the role of empathy in policymaking and program implementation. We’ve explored the impact of empathy-driven initiatives on workplace recovery, food insecurity, affordable housing, veteran suicide, and more.

“Every conversation we’ve had across our podcast has humanized government programs and made. Many of our guests have dedicated their careers to constantly looking for ways to improve public programs, resources, and policies, and I hope that sharing those journeys with our listeners helps them understand how our government is evolving to better serve them,” Empathy Affect Host and Fors Marsh Media Content Lead Melissa Harris Sosinski said.

When government officials can understand and connect with the needs and perspectives of the people they serve, they can craft better, more effective policies and programs that truly address their constituents’ issues. Empathy Affect challenges the traditional perception of government as a monolithic, impersonal entity. By showcasing the humans behind the policy decisions and programs that impact our lives, we can see that civil service isn’t just bureaucracy and regulations; it’s people committed to making a positive difference in the world.

Season 2 of Empathy Affect will continue to shed light on the human side of government and serve as a platform to amplify the message that empathy has the power to bridge divides, foster understanding, and inspire action. We’ll continue to bring you more thought-provoking conversations, inspiring stories, and practical tools to help cultivate a culture of empathy.

Subscribe to Empathy Affect wherever you listen to podcasts, and stay tuned for Season 2, coming December 7.
